Editing Tool Paths

Once a tool path is locked, you can edit it, i.e. edit a point, an area, edit PP Words, apply transformations, ....


Before you begin:
  • The tool paths must be computed.
  • The Machining Operations must be locked.
  • The Machining Operations below the Manufacturing Program are automatically locked.
  • You have the choice to display the tool center or the tool tip. See Tool Path Replay.

Tool Path Editor
  1. Start the Tool Path Editor:

    1. If not already done, compute the tool path.
    2. In the Activities Process Tree, select the tool path and place the cursor in the Computed column.

      You can select:

      • one or several tool paths,
      • one or several Machining Operations,
      • one or several Manufacturing Programs.

    3. Right-click the tool path to display the contextual menu providing tool path edition commands.

    4. If not already done, lock the tool path.

      The contextual menu changes to

    5. Select Edit to start the Tool Path Editor.

      The Tool Path Editor dialog box is displayed:

      The title of this dialog box varies with the object selected.

  2. Click one icon to start the corresponding command:



    Point Modification see Editing a Point


    Area Modification see Editing an Area


    PP Word Modification see Editing PP Words


    Translation See Transformations


    Rotation See Transformations


    Mirror see Transformations


    Reverse see Reversing a Tool Path


    Connection see Connecting Tool Paths


    Approach and Retract Modification see Modifying Approaches and Retracts in Tool Paths

    Note: Approach and Retract Modification applies to 3 Axis Surface Machining operations only.





    Display On/Off Available in the Point Modification, Area Modification and Rotation commands. Click one of these icons to display or not the points on the tool path.

  3. Click OK when you are done.

    Cancel is available for:

    • Editing a point,
    • Editing an area,
    • Modifying approaches and retracts in tool paths,
    • Modifications done with the toolbar,

    Local undo via Ctrl-Z is available for:

    • Editing a point,
    • Editing an area,
    • Connecting tool paths,
    • Modifying approaches and retracts in tool paths.
