Accessing and Customizing Settings

You can customize settings for Drafting to suit your working habits. This task shows you how to access and customize these settings.

  1. Select Tools > Options... from the menu bar.

    The Options dialog box appears.

  2. Select the Mechanical category in the left-hand box.

    The options for Drafting settings appear, organized in tabs.

  3. Select the tab corresponding to the options to be customized.

    Options in this tab... Allow you to customize...
    Drawing the standard to be used when creating drawings, and options related to standard upward compatibility.
    General general settings, such as sheet creation, view creation, view axis display, frame and title block directory and paper unit.
    Display display settings, such as grid, specification tree and elements analysis.
    View view generation settings (Generative Drafting workbench only), such as geometry generation, dress-up, view generation, clipping view and view from 3D.
    Generation generation settings (Generative Drafting workbench only), such as update, view, generated geometry, dimension generation and balloon generation.
    Geometry geometry settings, such as geometry creation and manipulation, constraints creation and constraints display.
    Dimension dimension settings, such as dimension creation, move and line-up.
    Manipulators manipulator settings, such as manipulator reference size and zoomable, rotation and dimension manipulators.
    Annotation and Dress-Up annotation and dress-up settings, such as annotation creation, move, 2D component, table and area fill.
    Administration administration settings, such as drawing management, style and generative view style.

  4. Set these options according to your needs.

  5. Click OK to save the settings and exit the Options dialog box.

    Important:
    • In Tools > Options > General > File-based Design Import, the Drafting tab offers settings for file-based design imported related to the Generative Drafting workbench. For more information, refer to Drafting.
    • In Tools > Options > General > Compatibility, the V4/V6 DRAW tab offers settings for the migration of V4 2D DRAW elements. For more information, refer to V4 / V6 DRAW
