Installation Roadmap

This guide discusses the installation and configuration of the Abaqus Simulation Engine for performing remote executions of DesignSight simulations.

A standard DesignSight installation includes everything you need to define a simulation, run the simulation, and review the results on a single machine. The Abaqus Simulation Engine is an extension to DesignSight that lets you run simulations on remote clusters, allowing you to take advantage of advanced computing resources and the speed of parallel processing.

The Key Concepts section of this manual describes the fundamental definitions and terminology that are used throughout the manual. You should review the System Requirements and Licensing Requirements to ensure you have all of the appropriate prerequisites.

The following table outlines the tasks required to install and configure the Abaqus Simulation Engine:

Goal Task Contents
Installing and Configuring the Abaqus Simulation Engine Installation Overview Summary of the installation tasks that must be performed.
Running the Installation Procedure Recommendations on how to install the Abaqus Simulation Engine files on the appropriate host machines.
Configuring the Server Monitor Instructions on how to enable communication between remote execution components.
Configuring the aqs.env Environment File Instructions on modifying an environment file to configure the execution of simulations.
Configuring Queues Authenticating DesignSight Instructions on providing authentication for Windows HPC queue submissions.
Creating the Submission Template Instructions on defining parameters for queue submissions.
Adding Queue Controls to the aqs.env File Recommendations on necessary changes in the environment file to enable queue submissions.
