Running the Installation Procedure

The installation of the Abaqus Simulation Engine makes the Execution Engine and Abaqus technology available on a remote machine or cluster.

Before you begin: Ensure that the machine on which you are installing the Abaqus Simulation Engine has access to an Abaqus FLEXnet license server (see Licensing Requirements).

The process for installing the Abaqus Simulation Engine extension is the same as the process for other V6 products. This process is described in Installing and Deploying the Software in the Installation and Deployment Guide.

You must perform the installation on a shared drive that is accessible to all machines that will be used as execution hosts. On Windows platforms you must indicate the installation location using a uniform naming convention (UNC) path.

When the installation is complete, you may need to modify an environment file to specify certain simulation execution parameters (see Configuring the aqs.env Environment File). On submission hosts, you must also start the Server Monitor process to allow the Execution Engine to receive simulations from the client (see Configuring the Server Monitor).
