Applying Materials

You can apply materials using several different procedures.

  • You can apply a specific core material to a product or representation using Apply Core Material. Use this task if you know the specific material to be applied or to apply core materials to subcomponents in a product structure.
  • You can apply a specific covering material to a product or representation using Apply Covering Material. Use this task if you know the specific material to be applied or to apply covering materials to subcomponents in a product structure.
  • The Materials Palette allows you to select a material from your database and apply it to any product in the product structure. Use this task to browse the available materials and quickly apply materials to products.
  • The Filter Specification Tree allows you to filter materials within the Materials palette by creating filters.
  • The Edit Applied Material balloon toolbar allows you to remove, delete, and apply a material again.
  • You can identify missing core materials in the product structure down to representation instances (3D shapes) and add them by using the PLM Compass East quadrant. Use this task if you need to review the material definition of complex product structures.
