Reordering Material Layers

Reordering material layers allows you to rearrange the order of applied covering materials within a Materials node in the specification tree.

The order of covering materials determines which material takes priority on the product reference or product instance to which it is applied. See About Applying Materials.

Before you begin: Apply at least two covering materials to a product reference or product instance; the materials must be applied in the same context.

About Applying Materials

  1. In the specification tree, right-click a covering material and select Reorder Material Layers.



    The Reorder Material Layers dialog box appears.

  2. Select the material you want to move.



  3. Click a button to move the selected material:

    • Click to move the selected material to the top of the list.
    • Click to move the selected material up one spot.
    • Click to move the selected material down one spot.

    As you move materials, the specification tree is updated to reflect the order listed in the dialog box. For example, click , and the Blue Grid material moves down:

  4. Click OK.
