Defining a Scaling

You can apply a scaling transformation to a functional feature using the Transform command.

This task illustrates a scaling transformation applied to two functional features (Shellable Prism and Pocket) at the same time.

  1. Click Transform .

    The Transform dialog box appears.

  2. Click Scale to define the type of transformation.



    A scaling transformation changes the absolute size of a geometric body by multiplying a given scale ratio in a given direction to all the geometric coordinates. The scale information may be defined as follows:


    • Ratio: the scaling factor
    • Reference: The reference geometry that the scale ratio is applied about can be either planar, linear, or a point in space.

  3. Select the pocket and the shellable prism as the Features to transform.



  4. Set the point as the Reference.



  5. Set 1.5. to define the ratio.

  6. Click OK.
