Creating a Stiffener

You can create a stiffener. Stiffener is an angle bar or a stringer fastened to a plate to strengthen it and make it rigid.

Before you begin: Open the structure where you want to add the stiffener.

Stiffener Dialog Box

  1. Click Stiffener in the Authoring Object toolbar.

    The Stiffener dialog box appears.

  2. In the Category list, select Deck Longitudinal Stiffener.

  3. In the Plate box, select deck plate to which the stiffener should be attached.

  4. Select a LONG.0 as Support for stiffener.

  5. In Material & Orientation tab, select Steel_62 Material.

  6. Define HP100x8 as Section for stiffener

  7. Click OK.

    Deck longitudinal stiffener is created.



Note: In case the stiffener location is changed, the end cut location is also updated. However, in the graphics area you will still see the circular dot indicating the old end cut location. You need to update the connection set to update the graphical representation of end cut. For more information, refer to Connection Set.
