Placing Slots

You can place slot to create an opening for free passage of stiffener. You can place slot on a plate and a stiffener. Set of standard slots are defined in slot table which is set in Project Resource Management.


Before you begin: Open a structure to place a slot. The structure should contain:
  • A penetrated element. It can be plate or stiffener.
  • A penetrating element. It can be stiffener.

For the purpose of this scenario, consider Deck Longitudinal Stiffeners are penetrating Transverse Bulkhead.

  1. Click Slot in the Connection toolbar.

    The Slot dialog box appears.

  2. In the Penetrated Element box, select transverse bulkhead.

  3. Click deck to select Deck Longitudinal Stiffeners as Penetrating Element.

    Note: To select

    • A Stiffener out of the many attached to the plate, you need to select it in the 3D session.
    • All the Stiffeners attached to a plate simply select a Plate. All attached stiffeners will get selected.

    Tip:

    You can select the Penetrating Element in one of the following ways:

    In the Slot dialog box:

    • Press Ctrl and select each element manually.
    • Sort and then select a bunch of elements by pressing Shift key.

    In the 3D session:

    • Click to select each element manually. It gets highlighted in the Slot dialog box.

  4. With all penetrating elements selected right click to select Define/Edit Slot.

    The Define Feature and Parameters dialog box appears.

  5. In the Type list, select BULB.

  6. In the Name list, select BULB_HP400x16.

    The parameters are displayed in the Parameters box.

  7. Click OK to place the slots.



Important: The slots are indicated by a square dot in the graphic area.
