About Tolerancing Capture

The purpose of tolerancing capture features is to provide in 3D the views/sheets of 2D drawings flexibility for annotation display organization, and allows you to organize the display of 3D annotations the way you want.

Concept

You can create tolerancing capture for specific contexts.

For instance:

  • Functional product area.
  • Specifications answering to given functional requirements.
  • 2D view equivalent.
  • 2D sheet equivalent.
  • etc.

Display

Display a tolerancing capture means show annotations and/or annotations plane according to a specific context.

For this, during the capture edition or when a capture is set current, user can record which elements is show/no show in the capture.

Furthermore, user can specify a capture point of view by associating a camera.

As the capture annotation is considered as an annotation, its 3D representation, and automatically its object in the specification tree, can be displayed in the other captures, but take care this means that only the capture annotation is taken into account, not the capture display.

Note:

For a better visualization of the captures a 3D representation of the tolerancing capture and/or a hidden text can be defined in the tolerancing capture definition.

Hide/Show

You can manage hode/show for 3D shape instances in products and all types of bodies and geometrical sets in 3D shapes.

By default, the capture does not manage the visibility status of those elements:

  • You create a capture with hidden 3D shape instances or bodies,
  • you exit the Tolerancing & Annotation Captures workshop and recall those 3D shape instances or bodies from the No show, and eventually add annotations and bodies or 3D shape instances,
  • then you reactivate the capture: those 3D shape instances and bodies that were hidden at the creation of the capture are no longer hidden, and the new annotations and bodies or 3D shape instances are displayed.

When you select the Manage the visibility of Part instances, bodies and geometrical sets option (see Capture Options):

  • You create a capture with hidden 3D shape instances or bodies,
  • you exit the Tolerancing & Annotation Captures workshop and recall those 3D shape instances or bodies from the No show, and eventually add annotations and bodies or 3D shape instances,
  • then you reactivate the capture: those 3D shape instances and bodies that were hidden at the creation of the capture are hidden again, and the new annotations and bodies or 3D shape instances are not displayed.
Important:
  • When you add geometry to a body or a 3D shape instance that was visible at the creation of the capture, this geometry will be visible when you reactivate the capture.
  • When you add geometry to a body or a 3D shape instance that was hidden at the creation of the capture, this geometry will not be visible when you reactivate the capture.
