Using the Mesh Visualization Tools

You can change the mesh visualization mode, the element shrink, and the mesh colors using the mesh visualization tools. This command modifies the visualization of all the existing meshes.


Before you begin: A mesh must be created in the finite element model representation.

  1. In the Visualization Tools toolbar, click Mesh Visualization Tool .

    The Mesh Visualization Tool dialog box appears.

  2. Modify the mesh visualization mode.

    The default mesh visualization mode is the standard visualization.

    • Click Quality Visualization to switch to the quality visualization mode. The mesh elements are assigned green (good quality), yellow (poor quality) and red (bad quality) colors.
    • Click Orientation Visualization to switch to the orientation visualization mode. The mesh elements are assigned blue and red colors. The red color indicates the positive orientation (normal direction):



      The blue color indicates the negative orientation (inverse of normal direction):

      Important: To use the orientation visualization, you must select the For faces belonging to solids check box of the Enable back face culling option in the display settings. To know how to select this option, refer to Settings Customization Guide: General Settings: Display: Performance.
    • Click Standard Visualization to retrieve the standard visualization mode (mesh elements are assigned the default colors or the colors you have specified).

  3. Modify the element shrink.

  4. Modify the mesh color and click Apply.

  5. Click OK or Cancel to cancel your modification.
