Work Instructions BarThe Work Instructions Bar takes up the left frame of the Work Instruction workbench. This area is topped by the Work Instructions toolbar. The area beneath the toolbar lists the work instructions of the operation you selected in the Operations Sequencer. The list shows the instructions in order. You can use drag and drop to reorder the instructions. You can preview the contents of any work instruction by placing your mouse over the the work instructions in the list. To edit a work instruction, click on an instruction in the list. You can open and edit any number of work instructions at the same time. Each dialog box remains open until you deselect it in the work instructions bar or until you click on the dialog box's X, Cancel, or OKbutton. To delete a work instruction, right-click on the instruction and select Delete Work Instruction. Operations SequencerThe Operations Sequencer offers graphic cues about the operations with which your work instructions are associated.
When you select an operation, a white border appears within the film frame for that operation. Also, any work instructions appear in the left frame (the Work Instructions Planning Layout) and the product implemented by the operation appears in the 3D data area. When several operations occur in parallel, that group of operations appears in the Operations Sequencer with a green arrow and a composite view of the implemented parts. When you mouse over the parallel operations frame, the discrete operations appear vertically. If necessary, a scroll bar enables you find the operation desired. The vertical strip remains in place as long as one of the operations within it is selected. When an operation is linked to a product without 3D part data, it appears on the Operations Sequencer as an icon representing its operation type. Note: In Work Instructions Planning, the Operations Sequencer helps you visualize the order of each operation, but does not allow operation modification outside of adding, modifying, or deleting work instructions, and modifying the Time Mode. Accessing Commands from the Operations SequencerIf you right-click on any operation, you can access three commands:
3D Data Area and Product Build UpThe 3D data area helps you visualize the work that is being done as you are authoring the relevant instructions. For example, the third operation contains the build up parts from the first two operations (the block head and head gasket) as well as its implemented product (the spark plug). The fifth operation contains all the above parts as build up parts (plus the heat shield, from operation 4), and adds the head bolt stud as the implemented part. When you have selected one of the parallel operations, all the parts implemented by the parallel operations appear in the 3D data (e.g., the bolts). If you select Work Instruction Options , you can choose to see product build up in terms of other systems as well as previous operations. In addition to choosing to see extensive product build up, the Work Instructions Options dialog box also enables you to select color and transparency for previous systems' appearance. |
