This task shows you how to Copy, Cut, Paste, Drag and Drop between the logical structure created in Task Management Editor. Multi-select is available for the copy and cut functionalities.

Using Copy and Paste

In this scenario, you will copy representation from Attachments element and paste to the Input node of the Task Management Editor.

  1. In the Task for Catia V6 structure, right-click the representation and select Copy .

    The selected part is stored in the Clipboard.

  2. Right-click the Inputs node, and select Paste .

    The representation is copied under Inputs node of the Task for Catia V6 structure. The pasted part under the Inputs element points to the same items as the original part.

    Note:

    • You can paste the same data multiple times until the Clipboard is updated with new data.
    • You can directly copy the elements of one Task for Catia V6 to another Task for Catia V6.

Using Cut and Paste

In this scenario, you will cut Tasks for Catia V6 from one of the Task Management Editor and will paste to the Task for Catia V6 structure of the second Task Management Editor.

  1. Create a Task for Catia V6 in Task Management Editor. For more information about creating a Task for Catia V6, refer to Creating Task for Catia V6.

  2. Right-click the Task for Catia V6 and select Cut .

    The selected part is stored in the Clipboard.

  3. In the Task for Catia V6 structure, right-click the Inputs element, and select Paste .

    The Task for Catia V6 is displayed as a child Task for Catia V6 action. The pasted part points to the same items as the original part.

    Note: You can directly cut the elements of one Task for Catia V6, and paste it to another Task for Catia V6.

Use Drag and Drop to Copy and Paste

This task shows you how to use Drag and Drop to Copy and Paste.

  1. Copy and Paste can also be achieved by selecting and dragging the product directly in to the Inputs node. The mouse pointer will change into when you start dragging.

  2. When the drag and drop will not have any effect, the mouse pointer will change into .

    Note:

    • The pointer changes to when you hold the Ctrl key.
    • The checks for the Tasks for Catia V6 to be in final state are not performed during the drag of the object, but only during the drop (equivalent to Paste).
    • You can directly copy the elements of one Task for Catia V6 to another Task for Catia V6.

Use Drag and Drop to Cut and Paste

This task shows you how to use Drag and Drop to Cut and Paste.

  1. Cut and Paste can also be achieved by selecting and dragging the representation directly in to the Inputs node. The mouse pointer will change into when you start dragging.

  2. When the drag and drop will not have any effect, the mouse pointer will change into . This option eliminates the need to use of menus.

    Note:

    • The clipboard used for Drag and Drop is different from the one used for Copy and Paste, which is independent from the OS clipboard.
    • If the target node has a parent Task for Catia V6 which is in final state, then Drop is not possible and the object is not cut from its source if it was dragged without holding the Ctrl key (equivalent to Cut).
    • You can directly cut the elements of one Task for Catia V6, and paste it to another Task for Catia V6.

Limitation

This task explains about the limitations faced while performing Cut and Paste.

  1. When Cut is executed for multi-selection objects, and if one of the objects could not be pasted, then the Cut operation is not executed

  2. It is impossible to execute Cut commands if the Paste is not performed successfully.
