Creating Task for Catia V6

A Task for Catia V6 item is used to request, define and track a modification to a product. It contains all the information (comments, documentation, affected parts, configuration specifications, CAD/CAM models, electronic documents) necessary to implement and/or capture the requested modifications. All events that the task undergoes (creation, promotion, transfer, completion, association of documents) are recorded and can be used to communicate or track the progress of a modification throughout its lifecycle or for later historical analysis. Both, the Collaboration Environment and the Design Environment must be available in order to integrate the Task for Catia V6.

Create a Task for CATIA V6

This task shows you how to create a Task for Catia V6.

  1. To create a new Task for CATIA V6 , select PLM Access > New .

    The New dialog box appears.



  2. In the New dialog box select All Types > Task for CATIA V6 and click Next.

    The Task for Catia V6 / PLM Standard Task for Catia V6 dialog box appears.



  3. In the Task for Catia V6 dialog box:


    • type the name of the Task for Catia V6 in the Name box.

      Note: By default, the name of the Task for Catia V6 is provided in the Name box with the unique key server identifier. (Please refer to the Unique Key Server Identifier chapter below).

    • type the description of the Task for Catia V6 in the Description box.
    • type the abstract name in the Abstract box.

    • select the priority of the Task for Catia V6 from the Priority list.
    • set the Planned Start Date.

    • set the Planned End Date.

  4. Click Finish. A newly created Task for Catia V6 is opened in an Task Management Editor.



  5. Expand the newly created Task for Catia V6 to modify the elements of a Task for Catia V6.



Use Unique Key Server Identifier

This section helps you to understand about Unique Key Server Identifier.

  1. Unique Key Server Identifier is a unique value that is added for each of the Tasks for Catia V6 you create. This is done to avoid a duplication of the name for each Task for Catia V6. For example, a number value is added to the name of the Task for Catia V6 every time the Task for CATIA V6 is created.

  2. If you do not want to provide the specific name to the Task for Catia V6, then a default name will be given. A Unique Key Server Identifier is appended to the default name of the Task for Catia V6.
