Creating the Structure System

You can convert the ordinary product to structure system by inserting the project data. You can also add a surface for reference.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: The Reference Plane System, Common Geometry Reference and Common Reference Surface resources from the Project Resource Management resource Common Geometry Resource should be defined.

Insert a Project Data

You can insert the plane systems depending on the Project Resource Management resource defined.

  1. To create the first component, double-click the root to make the Product active and then select Insert > New > Product.

    The Product / Product DS dialog box appears.

  2. Click Finish.

    The component is added in the specification tree under the root product.

  3. Right-click the newly added component and select Properties.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

    Rename the component as per your requirement.

  4. Click Project Data in the Authoring Object toolbar.

    Project data is inserted.

    Notes:

    • The node (identified as Project Data.xxx) is added to the specification tree.
    • The product icon changes from to structure system .
    • The Discipline for the Product is updated as Structure_System after inserting the Project Data.

Add a Reference Surface

You can insert the reference surface depending on the Project Resource Management resource defined.

  • Right-click the Project Data.1 and select Project Data Object > Add a Reference Surface to add reference surface.

    The reference surface (identified as Hull) is added to the specification tree under the Project Data.1 node.
