Creating a Deck

You can create a deck. A deck is the horizontal platform that corresponds to a floor in a building.


Before you begin: Create a structural system under the root product (Refer to Organizing the Structure System). Rename it, if necessary.

Plate Dialog Box
  1. In the specification tree, select the 3D representation under which you want to create the deck.

  2. Click Panel in the Authoring Object toolbar.

    The Plate dialog box appears.

  3. In the Category box, select Deck as the category of the plate you want to create.

  4. In the Name box, if the Automatic check box is selected, name is automatically assigned to the plate based on the object naming function. To assign a name manually, clear the check box and type the name.

  5. In the Support box select the support for the deck. You can do the selection in the design or specification tree or by using Reference Plane Browser.



    Warning: It is important to select a support that is compatible with the selected category. For more information about selecting a support, refer to Molded Conventions.

  6. Select reference surface as the limiting object..

    Limits are used to trim the excess plate by specifying a limiting object.

    Hull appears as the Object in the Limits box. The deck is trimmed along the reference surface.

    You can also click Remove to remove the limit.

  7. Select the Material and Orientation tab and enter details. For more information, refer to Material and Orientation section in Plate Dialog Box.

  8. Click OK.

The deck is created.
