You can enable shadow-casting between objects.

Before you begin: Object shadows are supported on Windows only and that is why we recommend a recent graphic card. See recommendation in the Infrastructure User's Guide.

  1. Select the About the External Shader Files in Tools > Options > General > Display in the Performance tab if you want to produce smoother shadows on your objects.

Warning: The more projected shadows on objects you use, the lower are the performances of the rendering you get.

  2. Create a spot light source by clicking Create Spot Light .

  3. Access the lighting Properties dialog box by right-clicking the light in the specification tree then selecting Properties.

  4. Select the Shadows tab.

  5. Select the On Objects check box to activate shadow casting between objects.

The Color, Transparency, Map Precision and Quality parameters are available.

Tip: Small is set as default value for Map Precision and Good for Quality.

  6. Change values of the Color, Transparency, Map Precision and Quality parameters.

  7. Click OK when satisfied. The following images illustrate the soft shadow casting between objects:

    No Shadow

    Soft Shadow 1 light

    Soft Shadow 2 lights

    Important:
    • When On Objects is activated, the light source angle cannot exceed 45°. Inversely, defining a light source with an angle greater than 45° prevents you from creating shadows between objects.
    • The more you use spot lights, the lower is the performance of the display.
Warning: If you do not have the right graphic card and drivers to visualize advanced effects, the dialog box you get after having right-clicked the light in the specification tree and selected Properties is the following one:

You cannot modify any of the parameters presented.
