Checking Machine Reachability

You can determine whether a given point is reachable and visualize the machine position in Tool Path Replay for milling, mill-turn, and lathe MTB machine. The machines with interchangeable heads are also supported.

  1. From any Product:

    1. Select Start > Machining > Machine Programming.

      A PPR context with an empty Machining Cell is created. An empty Activities Process Tree opens automatically.

    2. Create a generic machine or assign a machine from the database.

      As soon as a machine is assigned to the Machining Cell, a Part Operation and a Manufacturing Program are created in the Activities Process Tree.

    3. Alternatively, open an existing Machining Process or PPR context .

      By default, the Activities Process Tree opens automatically.

  2. Click NC Machine Control.

  3. In the toolbar that appears, click Workpiece Automatic Mount to automatically mount the part on the machine.

  4. Create a Machining Operation and click Tool Path Replay.

  5. Click Check Reachability in the Tool Path Replay dialog box to verify that the machine can effectively reach the part at the current tool position.



    A Check Reachability dialog box appears indicating whether the position is reachable:


    • If reachable, the machine goes to the position.
    • If the position is out of limits or unreachable, then the machine is displayed with the tool at the home position.

    The axis locked by machine instructions before the current Machining Operation are also taken into account to move the machine in the position.

  6. Click OK in the Check dialog box to return to the replay mode.
