You can define and store text templates to be instantiated (i.e. re-used) when creating
texts associated to features. Text templates rely on feature attributes.
Important:
You can create text templates only in the detail sheets.
Before you begin:
Before you begin, you need to make sure that the package
corresponding to the type of object for which you want to create a
template is correctly loaded. For the purpose of this scenario, you
will load the Electrical package. Go to Tools > Options >
General > Parameters and Measure and select the Knowledge Environment tab.
Select the Load extended language libraries check box
and clear the All packages check box. From the
Available Packages list, select
Electrical and click on the down arrow to add it to
the Packages to load list. Click OK, and then
exit and re-start a session.
You need to create a detail sheet for creating a text template.
Right-click the Drawing node from the specification tree and select New Detail Sheet.
The newly created detail sheet automatically appears with a 2D component view at
its lower left-hand corner.
The sheet contains an empty 2D component, which you will not need for the purpose of this scenario.
You need to be in sheet edition mode. To do this, you can either:
Delete the 2D component.
Right-click Sheet.n (Detail) in the specification tree and select Edit Sheet.
Or
Click Text Template to create a text template.
It activates the main view of the detail sheet and then starts the usual text creation command. However, it only allows selection of elements located in the main view of the sheet to define text's position.
You can insert a link template using the contextual menu while executing the Text Template command.
You can also add a leader to the created text once the text creation is completed.
The detail sheet is now in edition mode.
Create a Text
You can create 2D text along with the leader.
Click Text or Text with Leader in the Annotations toolbar.
Click anywhere in the drawing. If you are creating a text with leader, click once again in the free space to position the text.
A green frame appears, as well as
the Text Editor dialog box.
Optional: Add text in the Text Editor dialog box.
Optional: Change the text properties as required.
You can now insert the link template.
Insert a Link Template
You can insert a link template.
Click
right anywhere in the drawing and select Insert Link Template.
The
Insert Link Template dialog box appears.
In the Text name field, enter a name for your text template.
This name will be used to identify the text template in the catalog.
Select a package from the Package drop-down list.
All the types included in the selected package are displayed in the Type drop-down list.
Select a type from the Type drop-down list.
The corresponding attributes are displayed in the
Attribute
drop-down list.
Optional: Select the Show Inherited attributes check box.
This displays the inherited attributes of the selected type.
Select an attribute from the Attribute drop-down list.
Optional: Click Apply and select additional attributes.
The link template is inserted and you can select additional attributes. Only attributes of the same type can be selected.
Click OK.
The link template is inserted in the Text editor dialog box, as well as in the text field on the sheet.
