Creating Reports

You can report data into a tab-separated text file that provides the list of fasteners of a given assembly and / or its sub-assemblies.

  1. Select the fastener instance products in the specification tree or in the 3D area for which you wish to generate a report. The elements and the parent of higher level are selected.

    Tip: You can modify the selection at all times in the command.

  2. Click Fastener Report .

    The Fastener Report dialog box is displayed.



    Important:
    • The directory for the report file is the one defined in Tools > Options > Infrastructure > Fastener Infrastructure. It cannot be modified.
    • The name of the report file is defined according to the name of the active product. You can modify it if needed.

    The dialog box enables you to customize the report through several options:


    • Long report: adds projection results, user-defined additional information and fastener components information for each fastener
    • Include comments: specifies that the report starts with the commented header block showing keywords description.
    • Ordered zones sorting: specifies how the fastener part specifications and projections are ordered in the report. If selected, they appear in the order in which the spot fastener crosses the fastened parts.

      It is only available only with long reports. If you select the Long Report option, the Ordered zones sorting option is selected too.


      • If you select the option, the specifications appear in the order in which the spot fastener crosses the fastened parts.
      • If you clear the option, no particular criterion is applied, i.e. the order is the same as fastened parts order specified in the fastener connection.
    • Translate coded values: defines attribute values belonging to a predefined list of codes are translated according to the NLS set-up.

  3. Click OK.

    An information message appears when the generation of the flat report is correct. Conversely, a warning message appears when errors are detected during the generation.

  4. Open the tab-separated .txt file.



    For each fastener of the list, the report begins with an optional commented block containing the following information:


    • The list of keywords used in the report: header, version, date, etc.
    • The header section that contains the format version, the active product name, units and issue date:

    • The fastener section that contains the name, technological and shape classifications.

      The column titles are set to the keywords described in the file report header "comment" block:

    • The long report contains additional information: length and volume, projection results on joined parts, etc.
