Importing

You can import data from a neutral file.

The capability enables the reading and conversion of V5 import .txt neutral file format into the V6 model.

Before you begin: The spot fastener reference (and hence instance) product contains a single spot feature, therefore each joint element in the CATIA V5 neutral file is represented by a spot fastener instance.



Here is an example of a neutral file exported from a V5 product.

  1. Click Fastener Import in the Fastener Import toolbar.

    The Fastener Import dialog box opens.



  2. Optional: Click to modify the path of the neutral file.

  3. Select the Import mode:

    • Bijection: for every joint element in the neutral file, a new spot fastener reference is created.
    • Optimization: a single spot fastener reference is created for a unique set of attributes (such as Process Category, Process Type, Shape Definition, and so on).

    The primary and secondary process types of a spot fastener reference are decided from process category and process type respectively of the joint element:
