Deleting and Removing Objects

This task shows you how to remove references and representations, and how to delete folders in the folder structure. In the Folder Editor window, you can use the Delete and Remove Item commands in the 3D representation of the folder structure, or in the folder structure tree. In this example the folder structure tree is used.

Deleting a Folder in a Folder Editor

This task shows you how to delete a folder in Folder Editor workbench.

  1. In the Folder Editor window, right-click a folder from the folder structure and click

    Delete.

    Important: The Delete command is inactive if you select the root folder in the Folder Editor window, or if the folder is locked by another user.

  2. The selected folder is removed from the folder structure and is deleted from the database.

Deleting a Root Folder from Search Results

This task shows you how to delete a root folder from Search Results list.

Important: Only Root Folders can be deleted from the Search Results window.

  1. In the Search Results window, select a root folder from the list and click Delete in the Lifecycle Toolbar. The warning dialog box appears.



    Note: You can select more that one root folder in the search list to be deleted from the database.

  2. Click OK to continue.

    The selected root folder is removed from the database and is removed from the Search Result window.

Removing Item

This task shows you how to remove an item from a folder.

  1. In the Folder Editor window, right-click a representation or reference from a folder in the folder structure and click Remove Item.



  2. The warning dialog box appears. Click OK to continue.

  3. The selected representation or reference is detached from the folder in the folder structure.
