Using Mapping Properties

A mapping property is a property that applies physical properties to finite elements using an XML (Extensible Markup Language) mapping file. The XML mapping file contains the identification of finite elements and the characteristics of the associated properties. This property allows you to apply finite element properties to all the elements of a part from a single file.

Two commands are available to let you apply an XML mapping property to a support:

  • First, you can export an XML mapping file by taking into account the characteristic values of properties that you have already defined. The exported file respects a particular syntax. See Generating XML Mapping Files.
  • Then you can use the exported XML mapping file to create a mapping property. See Creating Mapping Properties.

To learn more about the syntax rules and the content of the XML mapping file, see XML Mapping File.
