Starting from Scratch in FLEX mode

You can design your electrical branch geometry from scratch using the FLEX algorithm.

  1. Set the segment computation mode to FLEX algorithm and adjust the balance slider.

  2. Set the work with one electrical branch per electrical geometry working method.

  3. Create an electrical geometry.

  4. Click Electrical Branch Geometry and set branch parameters in the dialog box that opens.

The Electrical Assembly Design workbench switches to the Electrical Part Design workbench. The Branch Definition dialog box opens.

Important: The final slack, length and bend values may not exactly correspond to the user input due to the fact that the FLEX algorithm is a finite-element algorithm. If this is the case, it can be seen when you change the build mode.

  5. Click Route Definition and route a segment.

    Notes:

  6. Click Segment Definition and set bundle segment parameters in the Segment Definition dialog box that opens.

A Flexibility slider has been added in the right-hand pane of the dialog box:

This slider lets you set a value between 1 and 5 to define individual segment stiffness. The lower the value, the stiffer the segment.

Important: Flexibility is not taken into account if conductors and/or conductor groups have been routed. In this case, segment stiffness is based on the properties of conductors and/conductor groups.
