A material definition can be imported from an existing Abaqus input file. The imported material includes a Simulation domain that captures all of the appropriate material properties from the Abaqus definition.
Before you begin:
Material data are imported based on the following keywords and associated data lines in the Abaqus input file:
*ELASTIC, TYPE=ISOTROPIC
*PLASTIC, TYPE=ISOTROPIC
*DENSITY
*CONDUCTIVITY, TYPE=ISO
*VISCOELASTIC, TIME=PRONY
*DAMPING, ALPHA
*DAMPING, BETA
*EXPANSION, TYPE=ISO
All other keywords and data in the input file are ignored during the import.
In the Files of type: field, select Abaqus_materials (*.inp).
Browse to the Abaqus input file, and click Open.
The imported material is opened in the
Material Editor workbench. You must propagate the imported material to the database before using it in the DesignSight workbench.
Warning:
The material property values in the Abaqus input file are rounded off during import according to the Dimensions Display settings specified on the Tools > Options > Parameters and Measure > Units panel.
