Using the Materials Palette

The Materials Palette provides an easy way to select predefined materials and apply them to components in your model within the DesignSight workbench.

You must apply valid materials to all components in your model before performing a simulation. If valid materials are already applied to your model, you do not need to reapply the materials in DesignSight. However, a material must be applied directly to each part or representation in a product; DesignSight does not recognize materials that are applied at higher levels in the product structure.

The materials you apply to your part must be core materials with appropriate Simulation domains. The Materials Palette may display covering materials or materials that do not have a Simulation domain (see Materials Palette for information about customizing the content of the Materials Palette). If you apply a covering material or a material that does not include a Simulation domain, you cannot perform a simulation. You can always change the applied materials using the Materials Palette.
