Define bonds automatically
You can automatically define bonds between contacting surfaces in an assembly.
In the Define Connections panel, select Automatic.
Select the assembly components you want to bond. - If no components are selected, bonds will be created between all active components in the assembly.
- If one component is selected, bonds will be created between the selected component and any other active component it contacts.
- If multiple components are selected, bonds will be created between only selected components at their contacting interfaces.
Click Search. Bonds are created between all the appropriate components in the assembly at their contacting interfaces. Note:
Bonds are not created between components that do not meet certain proximity requirements (see Requirements for Creating Bonds). Bonds are also not created between two contacting surfaces that are part of a single component.
To delete a bond after it has been created, click its glyph and press [Delete]. The Review Panel can also be used to delete bonds. Note:
Bonded surfaces are trimmed automatically during a simulation (see About Bonds), so it is not necessary to manually delete bonds unless they are in a region that you want to remain completed unbonded.
Define bonds manually
You can manually define bonds between individual pairs of surfaces.
In the Define Connections panel, select Manual.
Select a face on the model.
Select a face on a different assembly component. If the two selected faces meet the separation requirements (see Requirements for Creating Bonds), a bond is defined between them.
To complete the bond definition: - Click the background to commit the bond, or
- Click a new face to commit the current bond and begin a new bond definition.
To delete a bond after it has been created, click its glyph and press [Delete]. The Review Panel can also be used to delete bonds.
