Creating Boards from Existing Parts

A board is a pad with technological properties used to represent the bare printed circuit board (without any components assembled to it).

This task shows you how to create a board from an existing part.


Before you begin: Open a document containing a product and associated 3D shape representation with two pads as illustrated below.

  1. Click Board .

    The PartBody contains two pads, so you have to select the pad you want to represent the board.

  2. Select Pad.1.

    CATIA recognizes the board and displays it in green.

    You can add Creating Pockets and Holes and constraint areas, as well as technological properties.
