Attaching Documents to a Work Instruction

You can attach a document (e.g., a safety policy or an image) to a work instruction. If the document you want to use is not in the database, you can import it as you attach it.


Before you begin: Open the Instructions dialog box for a new or existing text instruction.

  1. Click Attach Document.

    The Document Chooser dialog box appears.

  2. Click the From File tab.

    Note: You can select the From Search tab, if you want to attach a document that already has been in imported into the database. In that case, use the standard V6 search methodology.

  3. Click Import.

    A File Selection dialog box appears.

  4. Set the correct file type, navigate to the file's location, and click Open.

    The Document / Document Customization dialog box appears.

  5. In the Document / Document Customization dialog box, rename either the document or the database object (in the Name field), and then click OK.

    The file appears in the From File tab list.

  6. You can either:

    • Click Import to select another file for import.
    • Select a file in the From File tab's list, and click Remove to delete that file from the list.

  7. In the Document Chooser dialog box, click OK to import and attach the file(s) listed.

    The files appear in the attachment section of the Instruction dialog box.

    Note: You can delete any attachments by right-clicking on the file and selecting Detach Document.
