About Beam

Beams are used for providing the support to the structure. Beam object is created in a geometrical set. It can be moved from one geometrical set to another using contextual menu command.

Beams can only be created inside a geometrical set. Beams are created always under the active geometrical set.

Beam cannot be created under a geometrical set of type panel or construction geometry.

If there is no geometrical Set valid, Beam command prompts a message:

No valid destination for Beams, Please create a Geometrical Set.

When using the Beam command, a geometrical set called as ConstructionSet is created for the construction geometry.

You can get the required orientation of the beam using following manipulators:

  • Show Anchor Point
  • Hide Anchor Point
  • Flip Beam
  • Angle Manipulator.

Notes:

  • The drag and drop of a beam object from one geometrical set to another does not break the geometry.
  • To edit the previously created beam, you can right-click the beam and select the Beam command.
  • In case the beam location is changed, the end cut location is also updated. However, in the graphics area you will still see the circular dot indicating the old end cut location. You need to update the connection set to update the graphical representation of end cut. For more information, refer to Connection Set.
  • During multi-creation and multi-edition of beams, the manipulators are shown only for one beam.
