Splitting a Pipe

You can split a pipe at a point into two different pipes using the Split command. The pipe can be split at an existing node or at some distance from the node.


Before you begin: Open the document in which you want to split the pipe.

  1. Click Modify in the Compass Toolbar.

  2. Select the pipe to split.

    The balloon appears.

  3. In the balloon, click Edit > Split .

    Note: Directional and 2-point-port nodes are not displayed.

  4. Select the segment of the pipe where you want to split.

    The nearest node becomes the reference point and the ruler is displayed.

  5. Drag the green dot over the ruler, and drop it at the required location to split a pipe.

  6. Click Commit .

    The pipe is split at the selected point.

Tip: To split the pipe at the existing node indicated by yellow dot, you can directly select the node.
