Routing From and To a Port

If you want to route between parts with ports, you can create routing between these two parts using Port command.


Before you begin: Open a document containing the parts between which you want to route. In the example below two unions have been used.

  1. Click Rigid Route in the Compass Toolbar.

    The 3D Part/Product DS appears.

  2. Enter details and click Finish.

    The balloon appears.

  3. Choose Select > Port in the balloon.

  4. Select the part you want to route from.

    All the ports on the part are displayed with the active port displaying an arrow.

  5. Select the port you want to route from, in this example Port 1.

    A pipe is created.

    Note: The length of the pipe is equal to the value specified in the Directional Length box in the Route Definition Dialog Box.

  6. Select the part you want to route to.

    All the ports on the part are displayed with the active port displaying an arrow.

  7. Select the port you want to route to.

    The pipe is placed from the first part to the second.

  8. Click Exit and Activate Parent to exit the command.
