Adding or Replacing Points

You can add or replace the points of a pipe.

Before you begin: Open the document containing one or more parts you want to route from and/or to.

Creating a Directional Point

  1. Click Rigid Route in the Compass Toolbar.

    The balloon appears.

  2. Click Insert Point > Point in the balloon.

  3. In the top pane, right-click beneath the Point Name column and select Insert Wireframe > Create Point.

    The Point Definition dialog box appears.

  4. Click the Point Type arrow and select the method you want to use to create a point.

    For illustration purposes, the point shown below was created using the On Plane option - select this option, then select an XY plane and drag the point to the location where you want the point created.



  5. To add a point after another point:

    1. In the Route Definition dialog box, select the Add Point After option.
    2. Click Select Point .
    3. Enter other values such as length.
    4. Click the top of the block - a third point is created and pipe is added until that point.

      Note: Pipe is added normal to the surface you select, in the positive direction.

    In the example below Point 3 has been added.

  6. To add a point before another point:

    1. In the Route Definition dialog box, select the Add Point Before option.
    2. Click Select Point.

      There are several ways in which you can create a point, as mentioned above.

    3. Right-click under the Points column in the Route Definition dialog box and, in the menus that display, select Insert Wireframe > Create Point.
    4. Create a point using your selected method.

  7. To replace a point:

    1. Create a new point.

      It is the black point to the right of the pipe in the image below.

    2. Double-click the pipe to display the Route Definition dialog box.
    3. Click Select Point.
    4. Select the point you want to replace.
    5. Select the Replace Point option.
    6. Select the new point.

    The point will be replaced and the pipe re-routed.



  8. To remove a point:

    1. Select the point in the Route Definition dialog box.
    2. Click Remove Point.
