About PPR Smart Completion

The PPR Smart Completion command allows automatic completion of the PPR data structure (Process, Product, Resource, System or Operation). This command is available in a PPR Navigation window.

Principle of Use

The PPR Smart Completion command allows a PPR data structure (Process, Product, Resource, System or Operation) to be completed automatically. This command is available in a PPR Navigation window.

From a single selection, the command automatically searches implemented, implementing or required objects, and completes the tree and 3D view with the retrieved objects.

From any PLM object, smart completion is done from the selected "fake" nodes (PPR, Process, Product, Resource or System). When the PPR node is selected, all the structures are completed.

To get implemented objects, the corresponding fake node must be selected. For example:

  • to complete from one or more operations, the Process and possibly the Product must be selected
  • to get the material path for a system, one or more systems and the System fake node must be selected.

If no fake node is selected, the default behavior is to perform the complete with the implemented objects only.

Notes: The PPR Smart Completion command:

  • can be used to retrieve EBOM parts from Processes that have implement links that reference these parts
  • can be used on EBOM parts to retrieve the implementing Processes
  • does not handle time constraints between operations.

Multi-Selection

The PPR Smart Completion command can be applied to multiple objects at the same time using multi-selection. It completes the current exploration session with all the objects that are linked to all the selected nodes.

Product

If one of the selected objects is a product, the command completes the current exploration session with objects that are referred through scope and implement links up to the resource, according to the selected fake nodes.

For example, from a Search window, right-click a Product (for example, Fastener1) and select Explore in PPR.

In the resulting Navigation window select Fastener1 and the PPR fake node.

Then, right-click PPR Smart Completion. The result is as follows:

The Process, System and Resource structures of the session are completed showing all the objects that are linked to the Fastener1 object (process, systems and operation, and resources).

Resource

If one of the selected objects is a resource, the command completes the current exploration session with objects that are referred through scope and implement links up to the product, according to the selected fake nodes.

System

If one of the selected objects is a system, the command completes the current exploration session with objects that are referred through scope and implement links up to the product or resource, according to the selected fake nodes.

Operation

If one of the selected objects is an operation, the command completes the current exploration session with processes and/or resources that are referenced through implement links, according to the selected fake nodes.

Parent objects (processes or products) are added to the navigation till one scope is found in Explore in PPR window.

If the objects retrieved by PPR Smart Completion are already linked with a scope, no parent is added in Explore in PPR.

The parent processes are not taken into account when linked products are retrieved.

Note: To complete structures combining operation completion and material path completion, first you must complete the structures taking into account implement link analysis for operations (for example, from a provide process get the implementing operation).

Then to complete the system structure for material path analysis, you must select the fake System node and the systems from which the material path analysis will be done (for example, the father system of the operation coming from the implemented provide process).

Process

If one of the selected objects is a process, the command completes current exploration session with objects that are referred through implement links, according to the selected fake nodes.

Parent products are added to the navigation till one scope is found in Explore in PPR window.

If the objects retrieved by PPR Smart Completion are already linked with a scope, no parent is added in Explore in PPR.
