Creating a PLM Template Containing Meta Inputs

Instantiating a PLM Template
  1. Open a Product and save it in the database.



  2. Select PLM Access > New.

  3. Expand the All types node and select Knowledge Template. Click Next.

  4. Enter the name of the template and click Finish.

  5. In the Components tab, click Add reference... The Select a reference to insert in the template dialog box is displayed.

  6. Click Search to search for the Product you saved in the database.

  7. Select it in the list and click OK.

  8. Click the Inputs tab. In our example, we expand the EngineSkeleton node. The inputs are displayed.

  9. Click Add. The Select inputs dialog box is displayed. Select the following points:


    • Point.5

    • Point.6

    • Point.7

    • Point.8

    • Point.9

    • Point.10

    • Point.11

    • Point.12

    • Point.13

    • Point.14

    • Point.15

    • Point.16

  10. Assign them a role in the Name field:

  11. Click the Meta Inputs tab to create the meta inputs.

  12. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Name field (Rod1 in this scenario.)

  13. In the Remaining Inputs field, select RodPoint1 and click to associate this point to the meta input

  14. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Name field (Piston1 in this scenario.)

  15. In the Remaining Inputs field, select PistonPoint1 and click to associate this point to the meta input. Then select PistonPoint2 and click to associate this point to the meta input.

  16. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Role field (Crankshaft in this scenario.)

  17. In the Remaining Inputs field, select Crankshaft1 and click to associate this point to the meta input. Repeat this operation for the following points: Crankshaft2, Crankshaft3, Crankshaft4, Crankshaft5, Crankshaft6.

  18. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Role field (Piston2 in this scenario.)

  19. In the Remaining Inputs field, select PistonPoint1 and click to associate this point to the meta input. Then select PistonPoint2 and click to associate this point to the meta input.

  20. Click Add to create a meta input. Change its name in the Role field (Rod2 in this scenario.)

  21. In the Remaining Inputs field, select RodPoint1 and click to associate this point to the meta input.

    The PLM Template is created.

  22. Save your template in the database and close it.
