Managing Process to Operation Assignments

If a System-Process scope exists, you can assign one or more processes to a selected operation using Assign Processes to Operation. You can also unassign processes that are already assigned to the operation. The processes that are available for assignment are derived from the System-Process scope definition.


Before you begin: Open the Manufacturing System Definition workbench.

  1. Click Assign Processes to Operation in the Operation Authoring toolbar.

  2. Select an operation.

    The Operation to Process Assignment dialog box appears showing the current and potential process assignments of the selected operation.



    All the processes that are listed are derived from the System-Process scope definition.

    The right pane shows the list of processes that are already assigned to the selected operation.

    The left pane shows the list of processes that are not assigned, but which can be assigned to the selected operation.

  3. You can manage the assignments as follows:

    • to assign a process to the operation, select a process in the left pane and click the left to right arrow
    • to unassign a process from the operation, select a process in the right pane and click the right to left arrow .

      Note: You can also unassign operations from a selected process directly in the tree. To do that right-click the process in the tree and select Unassign Operations. A dialog box appears allowing you to confirm the changes.

  4. Click OK to take into account any modifications made to the process to operation assignments.
