Generating a Resource

You can generate a resource from a selected product. Checks are performed to ensure that invalid resource structures cannot be created.

Generate a Resource

You can use Generate a Resource in the Resource Structure toolbar to generate a resource from a product.

  1. Select the product.

    Check that the selected product is not a resource.

  2. Click Generate a Resource on the Resource Structure toolbar.

    The Generate a Resource dialog box appears:



  3. Select the desired resource type using the Main type combo.

  4. Modify the other attributes as desired.

  5. Click OK to generate a resource from the selected product.

    Note: Once a product is transformed into a resource, it is not possible to change its type.

Edit Properties (for Resource Extension)

You can edit the attributes of a resource in the Properties dialog box.

  1. Right-click the resource node and select Properties.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

    Note: After the resource is created via Generate a Resource command, a new Resource tab appears in the Properties dialog box.

  2. Click the Resource tab and modify the attributes as desired.



  3. Click OK.

The Resource attributes added and/or modified on original Product persist in database with Product reference extensions.
