The creation and distribution of instances is governed by the number of objects selected. If you have selected just one object then first the instance creation happens and then distribution. If you have selected multiple objects then only the distribution part is executed If you select an object with the Create Pattern then a direction selection agent (axis system having XYZ axis) at the base centre of selected object appears so that you can create new predefined number of instances and distribute them in that direction with predefined spacing. If more than one base attachment port is found, select one of them in the 3D viewer. If direction (X,Y or Z) is selected all selected instances are distributed in that direction and in case of any 3D profile selection all selected objects are placed on profile starting from a selected point and direction on the profile. This respects the clash rule, as soon as a clash is detected the distribution is stopped. The spacing between the instances being distributed is the spacing between their nearest bounding box faces in all cases. For negative X, Y, Z axis keep the hold CTRL key pressed while selecting the axis. The same way you can also opt for reverse direction on selected profile by holding CTRL key pressed while selecting the direction. Since the command allows multi selection, you can either select objects once before launch or after launch. If nothing is preselected before the command launch, a tools palette is provided for multi objet selection after command launch. |
