Assigning Links Between Resources and Operations

You can assign links between resources and operations. For example, you may want to balance several operations on a working resource or assign the same resource to several operations.

Assign an Operation to Resources

You can assign one or more resources to an operation.

  1. Click Assign Operation to Resource in the Operation Authoring toolbar.

  2. Select an operation in the list of non-assigned operations in the Resource Utilization Gantt or the System Gantt.

  3. Select a resource in the Resource tree or the 3D viewer.

    Depending on the selected resource type, an Execute, Used or Where link is created between the resource and operation, and information is added to the Gantt.

  4. If needed, select other resources.

    It can be useful to continue resource selection because you may want to assign an operation to the working resource and also define the used resources on that operation.

  5. Double-click in the 3D view to finish.

Assign a Resource to Operations

You can assign one or more operations to a resource.

  1. Click Assign Operation to Resource in the Operation Authoring toolbar.

  2. Select a resource in the Resource tree or the 3D viewer.

  3. Select an operation in the Manufacturing System Gantt or the Resource Utilization Gantt.

    Depending on the selected resource type, an Execute, Used or Where link is created between the resource and operation, and information is added to the Gantt.

  4. If needed, select other operations.

    It can be useful to continue operation selection because you may want to balance several operations to the working resource or assign the same resource to several operations.

  5. Double-click in the 3D view to finish.
