Visualizing the 2D Elements

You can filter 2D elements from a 2D layout view plane. When activated on a view, only the 2D planar elements that are in the same plane as this view in 3D, will be displayed in the background of the view. Surface elements, faces of solid in the same plane will not be visible.

Note: 2D planar elements include 2D layout views, FTA annotations, sketches and wireframe planar elements (GSD splines for example, and also GSD planes).

Before you begin: Open a 3D shape representation containing a layout with 2D elements in different views. Open a layout in the 2D window. In the example below, two auxiliary views have been created in the layout sheet, using different planes.

  1. In the specification tree or in the sheet, right-click the view on which you want to filter 2D elements.

  2. Select Background > Activate 2D Visualization Mode.

    Note: You can also right-click the front view, select Properties then the Visualization tab, and select the Activate 2D Visualization Mode check box. Then click OK.

    In our example, activating the 2D visualization mode on Auxiliary view B hides the spline and the face of the pad (as these elements do not lie on the view plane).



Important:
  • When generating drawings from 2D layout views with the Activate 2D Visualization Mode option activated, annotations and construction geometries lying on the 2D plane, as well as 3D backgrounds visible through a view, will be generated.
  • The activation of 2D visualization mode for newly created views depends on whether the Activate 2D Visualization Mode option is selected in Tools > Options > Mechanical > 2D Layout for 3D Design, View Creation tab, View Background.
