Creating a 3D Plane

You can create a 3D plane.


Before you begin:
  • Open a 3D shape representation containing a layout.
  • Click and select Mechanical > 2D Layout for 3D Design to open the layout in the 2D window, alongside the 3D window.
  • By default, the 3D Plane command is not available in any toolbar. To make it available in a toolbar of your choice, you need to customize the toolbar. Refer to Customizing a Toolbar by Adding Commands for more information.

Creating a 3D Profile
  1. Double-click to activate the design view you will be working in.

  2. Click the 3D Plane icon in the customized toolbar.

    The Tools Palette appears.

  3. Enter a name for your 3D plane in the Tools Palette.

  4. Select a line in the view as shown below.



    The 3D plane, Plane2DL.1, is created and it is listed in the specification tree, under the PartBody node.



    The 3D plane is also displayed in the 3D window.



  5. Optional: Select one or several other lines.

    Several 3D planes are created in one shot.
