When projecting 3D silhouette edges, remember the following points:
- You can view all input geometries needed to create the silhouette edges in the specifications tree under the Use-edge inputs node.
Using this, you can edit, delete, or replace the silhouette inputs, if required.
- You can perform the following operations on the silhouette edge:
- Update to reflect the design changes of its inputs.
- Create geometry and apply the constraints.
- If new 3D features are added after the last feature used for the creation of the silhouette use-edge, these new 3D features are not taken into account by update of the silhouette use-edge.
- The Project 3D Silhouette Edges command generates one mark for each closed profile created in the resulting silhouette edges.
- The created silhouettes are visible in the specifications tree if the Use edges and the Use edge inputs check boxes are selected in Tools > Options > Mechanical > 2DLayout for 3D Design > Display tab, in the Specification Tree area.
- The created silhouettes are displayed in yellow, by default. However, you can change their color from Tools > Options > Mechanical > 2D Layout for 3D Design > Geometry tab, Colors area, the Protected elements list.
- You can create a non-associative silhouette use-edge by selecting Isolate Use-Edge in the Tools Palette when silhouette command is activated.
- If you apply the Parents/Children... command to a sketch containing a 3D silhouette, the Parents command shows the last solid feature that modified the silhouette. To see an example of this, refer to the Sketcher User's Guide: More About Projecting 3D Elements onto the Sketch Plane: Parents/Children section.
