About Clipping View/Annotations Plane

The view/annotation plane clipping is applied using the several rules.

View/Annotation Plane

A 3D shape can be clipped according to the active view/annotation plane.

The 3D shape can be clipped according to:

  • Front View
  • Section View
  • Section Cut View
  • Aligned Section View/Section Cut
  • Offset Section View/Section Cut

Important:

The clipping orientation is defined by:

  • The normal of a view/annotation plane.
  • The normal of first view/annotation plane in an Aligned Section View/Section Cut or Offset Section View/Section Cut.

Hatching, Coloring or Dotting

By default, the first color returned by the PartBody object of the 3D shape is applied to the clipping section, even when a material has been applied to the 3D shape.

See Hatching, coloring or dotting for clipping plane.

In order to customize the representation of the clipping section, when a material has been applied, edit in specification tree, the Drawing domain object of the material, in the Materials node under the product containing the 3D shape.

  • You can select Hatching, Dotting or Coloring,
  • You can set their parameters according to your needs,
  • When the same hatching definition is applied to several parts of an assembly, the hatching orientation follows the standard defined by your administrator.
Important:
  • Only Hatching, Coloring or Dotting are applicable.
  • The clipping is only displayed in the active window of your session.
  • View/annotation plane Show/Hide status does not affect the clipping.

View/Annotation Plane Selection

When you select a view/annotation plane or an Aligned Section View/Section Cut or Offset Section View/Section Cut, this one is automatically clipped.

The following selection modes are supported:

  • In the specification tree,

  • In the geometry window,

  • Through a tolerancing capture which contains at least one view/annotation plane.

Important:
  • This behavior is only available when 3D Annotation Query Switch On/Switch Off is on .

    See 3D Annotation Query.

  • Material properties defined for Clipping Plane are taken into account.
  • When you select a tolerancing capture containing several view/annotation planes, only its active view/annotation plane, or Aligned Section View/Section Cut or Offset Section View/Section Cut, is clipped.
  • View/annotation plane selection overrides Clipping Plane behavior.
  • In view/annotation plane multi-selection context, clipping is applied on the last selected view/annotation plane only,
  • View/annotation plane Show/Hide status does not affect the clipping.
