Creating Note Object Attribute From a Detail/Ditto

You can create a Note Object Attribute which contains a detail or a ditto.

  • A detail is a set of 2D elements, including 2D annotations, defined in a drawing detail sheet.
  • A ditto is detail instantiated in a drawing sheet.

Important:

  • Colors defined in a 2D component are not driven by the annotation set standard, and are kept as is when you extract this annotation in 2D.
  • Two behaviors of Note Object Attribute created from a 2D component are available from the Stick Ditto perpendicularly to geometry option in the Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box:
    • Unchecked, the 2D component is instantiated with a frame and a leader.
    • Checked, the 2D component is instantiated without frame or leader and its origin point is stuck and set on the selected geometry. Its normal is defined by the V axis of the 2D component.

If you are a DS Passport customer, you can read the QA00000010113 article from the Knowledge Base for more about ditto with Stick Dittoperpendicularly to geometry option.

Before you begin:
  • Open an existing 3D shape.
  • Check the option allowing you to create a Note Object Attribute, see Note Object Attribute.

About Note Object Attributes
Note Object Attribute Reference Dialog Box
  1. Click Note Object Attribute .

  2. Select the surface as shown on the part.

The Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box appears.

    Important:

This scenario illustrates the creation of a note object attribute by selecting geometry, but you can also select any Part Design or Generative Shape Design feature in the specification tree. In this case, the created annotation will not be attached to the selected feature, but to its geometrical elements at the highest level.

  3. Select Ditto in Graphical representation and enter the following information:

    • The type of the Note Object Attribute: Note Object Annotation from a 2D Component.
    • A Hidden text: This is a Note Object Annotation created from a 2D Component.

  4. Click Select an external detail and select the detail feature in a drawing representation.

The Preview displays the select detail representation.

  5. Click OK in the Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box.

The Note Object Attribute is created.

The Note object Attribute default name in the Specification Tree is retrieved from its type.

    Tip:

Modify the type name does not modify the feature name.

    To modify the feature name:

    • Right-click the name and select the Properties....
    • In the Feature Properties tab, modify the Feature Name.

  6. Click Note Object Attribute .

  7. Select the surface as shown on the part.

The Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box appears.

  8. Select Ditto in Graphical representation and enter the following information:

    • The type of the Note Object Attribute: Note Object Annotation from a 2D Component without Text.
    • A Hidden text: This is a Note Object Annotation created from a 2D Component without Text.

  9. Click Select an external detail and select the detail feature in a drawing representation.

The Preview displays the select detail representation.

    Important:

A text in a 2D component can be edited in Functional Tolerancing & Annotation context if it has been set as Modifiable in instance in Drawing context.

  10. Click OK in the Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box.

The Note Object Attribute is created.
