Creating a Flange

You can add material of a given constant thickness and offset (from the walls) to the perimeter of divided bodies, usually to improve the mating conditions. The flange is a multi-body feature that requires at least one divided half body.

  1. Click Flange in the Multi-Body Features toolbar.

    The Flange dialog box appears.

  2. Enter 8mm for the Width and 5mm for the Thickness.

  3. Enter 1mm for both the Top radius and the Bottom radius.

  4. Click Preview to see the flange to be created.

    The flange is previewed with the given values.

  5. Click OK.



    Important: It is necessary for the divide surface to extend beyond the external skin of the body because the geometry of the flange is controlled by the divide surface.

  6. Select Shellable Prism.1 from the specification tree to modify the Shellable Prism.

  7. Select the Fillet tab and enter 5mm for Lateral radius.

  8. Click OK to see if the flange has added the lateral fillet.
