Using Data Mapping

Data mapping allows you to import and to use data that are external data (experimental data or data coming from in-house codes or procedures) in a structural analysis simulation.

Create a Data Mapping File

You can create a data mapping file.

  1. From the menu bar, select PLM Access > New....

  2. Select All Types, select Document, and click Next.

    Both the Select File dialog box and the New - Step 2 - Document dialog box appear.

  3. In the Select File dialog box, select a text file or an Excel file, and click Save.

  4. Click Finish.

  5. Edit the file you just created and enter the needed values. The file must respect a pre-defined format. See More About Data Mapping.

Import a Data Mapping File

You can import a data mapping file.

  1. Select the Data Mapping check box.

    The Data Mapping box appears.

  2. Click .

    The PLM Chooser dialog box appears.

  3. Enter your search criteria.

  4. Click OK.

  5. To view the data mapping file, click View.

  6. To display a bounding box including the point referenced by the data mapping file, select the Display bounding box check box.
