Associating Nets/Net Groups with Wires/Cables

You can create or remove links between a net/net group and one or more existing wire(s) or cable(s).

Note that the following associations are available:

  • A net: with one or several wires
  • A net group: with one or several cables
  • A wire: with only one net
  • A cable: with only one net group


Before you begin:
  • Define a harness component (Audio Harness)
  • Create a net (Net1)
  • Define two wires (Wire1 and Wire2)

Business Rules
  1. From the tree or from the 2D representation, select Net1.

    Important: If the selected net is already associated with wires or cables, they are highlighted from the tree.

  2. Select Net/Wire Links from the Electrical toolbar.

    Tip: You can also select this command from the menu bar (via Insert > New... > Net/Wire Links).

  3. Select Wire1 and Wire2 to insert them under Net1.

    Warning: It is not possible to select a wire/cable that is already associated with another net.



  4. To remove a link, click the wire.



  5. De-activate Net/Wire Links .

    Tip:
    • You can de-activate Net/Wire Links by clicking anywhere in the 2D representation, on condition the 2D representation is active (in other terms, the tree is not active, you cannot zoom on it).
    • You can use a validation business rule when you associate / un-associate to or from a net / netgroup to wires / cables.
