Defining Equipment Extension

You can extend an existing logical component into a piece of equipment.


Before you begin:
  • Create a logical reference (Logical 1).
  • Insert a logical component (Logical 2) under the logical reference.

  1. Select Equipment Extension from the Equipment toolbar.

    Tip: This command is also available from the menu bar, via Insert > Extensions... > Electrical Net Extension.

  2. From the RFLP structure tree or from the 2D representation, select Logical 2.

    Tip: You can select a logical component before or after selecting the command.

    The Electrical Extension dialog box appears.

  3. If needed, enter a description in the Subtype field.

  4. Click OK to close the dialog box and add an equipment extension to the logical component.

    Under the system node (Logical 1), note that an electrical node is created to store all the equipment objects. In our example, it aggregates a Equipment node containing our extended electrical component (Logical 2)

    Tip: You can minimize the 2D representation of a piece of equipment by selecting 2D Graph... > Minimize Representation in 2D Graph from the contextual menu.

  5. Right-click the electrical component, then select Properties from the contextual menu.

    The Properties dialog box appears.

    An Equipment tab has been created to display the equipment extension.
