Creating an Equipment Subtype Filter in Project Resource Management

You can choose a subtype from a pre-defined list to apply on equipment at creation stage. For this, you need to define this list in an Excel file and expose it as a resource in the Project Resource Management.

  1. Click > Infrastructure > Project Resource Management.

    The Project Resource Management Editor is displayed.

  2. Select the Create a new Resource Table contextual command of Equipment Resources.



  3. Click Finish.

    The New / PLM Resource Set Custo dialog box is displayed and enter a name. The window related to the Resource set you chose opens:

  4. Select the resource row you want to assign and click the Choose the assigned resource contextual command. The Select a Sheet for item "Physical Equipment Subtype" window opens.

  5. Click Import in the Select a Sheet for item "Physical Equipment Subtype" window.

    The File Selection dialog box opens.

  6. Select an excel file and click OK.

    The excel file name appears in the Resource column of the Physical Equipment Subtype. And the resource preview frame displays the available strings to be used for subtype application during equipment instantiation.

  7. Click OK when done. The new setup data table is added under the selected resource set and propagate the resource.

  8. Save the setup data table. To do so, select PLM Access > Propagate. Click OK.

  9. Click > Equipment > Electrical Discipline > Electrical Part Design.

  10. Create a new product and click Equipment .

    The Equipment Definition dialog box opens. The Subtype field now contains a drop down list of the values suitable for equipment as defined in the resource (excel file):
