Using Electrical Catalogs or Chapters in Project Resource Management

For each project, a PRM is defined and a particular Catalog is mentioned in it. Then, to build his product definition, the user looks for the Catalog, stored in the PRM, in the database. This function prevents the user from opening a Catalog browser. This task shows you how to declare your electrical Catalog in a Project Resource Management (PRM). It allows you to store Drawing resources (2D Detail) in a specific project.

The user can valuate the Catalog resource (containing the 2D Detail reference) in a dedicated resource called Wire Harness Flattening Resources. Its options are linked to the ENOVIA database.

For more information about Project Resource Management, please refer to the Infrastructure User Guide.

  1. Open the Project Resource Management via Start > Infrastructure > Project Resources Management.

You can visualize the list of projects and add resources to a selected project. For example, during the Front View process, some 2D Detail references are needed. With the Project Resource Management you can store the Drawing Catalog used during the Front View Generation.

The resources' name is: Wire Harness Flattening Resources. The catalog or chapter can contain the 2D detail for devices, supports and ends of internal protection.

  2. Select the Wire Harness Flattening Resources and click Create a new Resource Table. The Resource dialog box displays:

  3. Select a Catalog or Chapter and the Choose the assigned Resource contextual command:

    The following dialog box appears:

  4. Search for a Catalog or Chapter and click OK. Then, it appears in the Resource list (on the right side).

Note: When you declare the 2D Detail Catalog or Chapter, multi-selection of Catalogs or Chapters is possible.

  5. Select the Resource and drag & drop it in the project's tree (on the left side).

  6. Click OK to validate.

Thus, in the Flattening of the Drawing, you replace the 3D Projection by a 2D Detail (of devices and supports) that is stored in Project Resource Management.

In the case of devices and supports, a mapping is done between the external reference (or the part number if there is no value for the external reference) and the name of the 2D detail:

    • If an equivalence is found, the corresponding 2D Detail replaces the 3D Projection (of device or support) in the drawing.
    • If not, the 3D projection is displayed.

For example, you can perform a mapping by using the flattened harness obtained from the Flattening the Entire Geometry:

      • Right-click a connector to display the properties, for example: RectangularConnector-MX10 (Connector-5)
      • Enter PN-AC1265 (this is the name of the 2D Detail in the Catalog) in the External Reference field.

  7. In case of internal protection ends, the mapping is done with respect to the external reference only.
